Why the name Edges for TEDxEdges?

We have adopted the name Edges to refer to to this year's moto TEDxEdges "At the Edge of the Unknown" also a pun on the name of the venue.

What is the theme of TEDxEdges 2011 in Lisboa?

The Edge of the Unknown: to showcase some of the most inspiring projects happening in Portugal or by Portuguese doers.

What are the sub-themes?

For TEDxEdges 2011 we resolve around being: Spiritual, Sustainable, Social and Super-Human!

How can I pay without a credit card?

For Portuguese bank account holders, if you don't have a credit card you can create a virtual credit card using the MBNet system. (please confirm with your bank)

I bought the ticket but and I won't be able to show up. Can I be refunded?

We have a no refund policy, but you can transfer your ticket to a friend or colleague. Just drop us an email and we will be glad to help you on that.

Where is TEDxEdges going to take place?

TEDxEdges 2011 is going to take place in Lisboa at Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, on October 1st, 2011.

Who is organizing TEDxEdges?

Beta-i, a Portuguese NGO dedicated to promote entrepreneurship, and innovation. Your host is André Marquet, and the rest of the TEDxEdges team.

What's the difference between TEDxEdges and other TEDx...?

Different names refer to different organizations. TEDxEdges was also the first TEDx in Portugal (in 2009). TEDxEdges is also one of the very few TEDx that is not attached to a specific geographic location, otherwise all TEDx events have the same purpose of "spreading ideas worthwhile".

How many minutes do speakers have for a TEDx presentation?

Never more than 18 mins.

Why English is the official language of TEDxEdges?

In TEDxEdges we have chosen to have our talks in English to spread ideas to the wider World stage audience.

What is your vision for TEDxEdges?

Our vision for TEDxEdges is to be a forum of creative, technological, economical and social thinking.

Will TEDxEdges generate revenue or is it purely a not-for-profit?

Beta-i, "Associação para a Promoção do Empreendedorismo e da Inovação" is the NGO behind TEDxEdges, and is purely not-for-profit. Its goals are the promotion of a more advanced, innovative and sustainable society.
