Where is TEDxEdges going to take place?

TEDxEdges Algarve is going to take place at at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão (TEMPO), on the October 1st ,2010. Check venue details.

Who is organizing TEDxEdges?

Your host is André Marquet, and the rest of the TEDxEdges team.  

Is the participation on TEDxEdges free?

TEDxEdges participation is free. For early birds, we will only ask you €20 that will serve to cover expenses with snacks and food along the day. In case you are selected to attend TEDxEdges we will contact you with the payment details.

What is the capacity of the venue?

TEDxEdges is very selective event, we only have 400 seated places. There is no direct public broadcast of the event, so enjoy the fact that you will be listening to original TEDx talks on first hand. 

How are the participants selected?

People attending to TEDxEdges are personal guests of the TEDxEdges team. With the exception of institutional guests, everyone is selected by its registration form details like your profile, why do you want to go, and your interests. 

How many minutes do speakers have for a TEDx presentation?

Never more than 18 mins.

What is the official language of TEDxEdges?

In TEDxEdges we have chosen to have our talks in English. The reason is that we want our talks to be reached by the most people around the World, although we might have some talks in Portuguese.

What is your vision for TEDxEdges?

Our vision for TEDxEdges (or the association behind it which will be presented shortly) is to be a forum of ICT ans social thinking and lobbying for government ICT policies.

Will TEDxEdges generate revenue or is it purely a not-for-profit?

It is purely not-for-profit but it might manage finantial ammounts in order to achieve its goals: promotion of a more advanced and sustainable society through the use of technology.

Will you be using the platform to lobby government regarding issues of ICT development? And how will you leverage the relationships with private sector sponsors?

We will lobby both the private and the public sector respecting to relevant causes, keeping social and IT topics on top of the political agenda though workshops, consultancy, economic studies, white papers, etc.
